Turmeric has steadily been building in popularity over recent years due to its amazing health attributes—especially its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a member of the Zingiberaceae family and an exotic tropical herb that we love to grow and use. In this webinar, we will share our experience cultivating and harvesting turmeric, preserving and cooking with these amazing, colorful and flavorful rhizomes, as well as some of our favorite remedies and recipes.

Both Susan Belsinger and Tina Marie Wilcox live herbal lives—they have been collaborating since they met in 1996—when herbs brought them together. They have created many herbal events, demonstrations and webinars, taught classes, written articles and books. They love delving deep into research about our herbal allies; are most happy in the garden cultivating the plants; creating recipes for tasty food and drinks as well as healing remedies. They love botanizing and foraging out and about, traveling and visiting gardens and sharing with like-minded folks. 

Susan and Tina are both members of the Herb Society of America, International Herb Association and support American Botanical Council and United Plant Savers. Tina Marie received HSA’s Nancy Putnam Howard Award for Excellence in Horticulture and she is a member of the Ozark Unit. Susan was the Honorary President for the HSA from 2018 to 2020 and received the Joanna McQuail Reed Award for the Artistic Use of Herbs in 2006; she is a member of both the Potomac and Ozark Units.
