From Cottage to Castle: Our Love for Historic Roses, Exploring the Western Reserve Herb Society's Historic Rose Collection
With Kathleen Hale, WRHS Historic Rose collection Section Leader, author, and Retired Attorney
December 12, 2024, 1PM Eastern
Kathleen M. Hale is a retired attorney and sometime author from Bentleyville, Ohio. She has shed much blood in the service of historic roses (some come heavily armed) and is an avid student of their history. Far from the common perception of roses as being delicate and demanding, historic roses are often amazingly vigorous, varied and resilient. They give us stories of adventure and romance, violence and hope. Kathleen is the Section Leader of the Historic Rose Collection of the Western Reserve Herb Society, a Registered Collection of historic roses certified by the Herb Society of America in 2012. She is only the fourth gardener to hold that office in the fifty five years of the garden's existence. Like its roses, the Historic Rose Collection produces tough and long lived gardeners. These are stories worth telling!
