Growing Lavender for Crafting and Self Care
With Paola Legarre, Owner, Author, and Speaker

December 11, 2025, 1pm Eastern

Paola Legarre

This presentation will cover how to choose specific lavender species and cultivars that are ideal for creating self-care products. We'll also provide an overview of distilling lavender for essential oil and hydrosol, including how to combine other herbs in the distillation process. Finally, we'll explore crafting with fresh and dried lavender, with an approach to wreath making, swags, and other easy crafting projects.

Paola Legarre has been passionate about gardening since an early age and has worked in organic farming since 1995. She is the owner of Sage Creations Farm, which has over 6 acres in lavender production and grows and propagates 4 species and over 60 different cultivars of lavender. Paola’s first lavender planting was in 2006. As her lavender fields grew, she extended her product line to include essential oil, bath and body products, dried flowers and lavender plant starts. She has been trialing different species and cultivars of lavender to see which is best suited for the Colorado climate and its different zones. She has worked with numerous growers throughout Colorado and the Southwestern states. Through Sage Creations she teaches many workshops and classes, and has mentored many lavender growers and home gardeners through the years. Paola’s love of teaching and sharing her knowledge and farming experience has inspired her to write the next generation of lavender text. She has recently published, Lavender for All Seasons, A Gardener’s Guide to Growing and Creating with Lavender Year-Round which was released in June of 2025 by Timber Press

Paola is a founding member of the Colorado Lavender Association and has presented at workshops and conferences across the United States, including the United States Lavender Growers Association. She has served as the Lavender Curriculum Advisory Committee Member at Michigan State University, is a past president of Western Colorado Horticultural Society and served as an advisory Committee Member to the Colorado Department of Agricultural Organic Program.

Paola and her farm, Sage Creations, have been featured in regional and national publications as well as television and radio, including PBS programming and Colorado Public Radio.

Paola lives and farms alongside her husband and two children in Palisade, Colorado.
