Jafar Vossoughi, retired bioengineer, Montgomery County Master Gardener, will give a talk called, "The Common Fig - Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about It!".
Figs are among the oldest foods consumed by humans; there are over 750 varieties; they have shaped our world, nourished our bodies, and fed our imaginations. Jafar will cover the history, biology, nutritional, culinary, and medicinal aspects of the fig; he will bridge the scientific and faith-based views. Then he will show the cultivation, how production has been improved, and cite the varieties suitable for our region.
