This webinar will explore nontraditional herbs including many species of fruit trees, figs, persimmons, Asian pears, and citrus. The discussion will include planting, care and maintenance.

Jason Powell and his wife, Shelley, own the nursery Petals from the Past in Jemison, Alabama. They specialize in antique roses, heirloom shrubs, cottage perennials, and herbs.  In addition, they produce a handful of classical varieties of vegetables and fruit trees.  They have display gardens, fruit gardens, growing facilities and an Educational facility.

One of the primary goals of their nursery is to approach gardening from the educational standpoint.  To achieve this goal they make two efforts.  First, they try to integrate everything they grow into a garden setting so customers can see what these plants look like as mature specimens.  Secondly, they also host two to three lecture/workshops monthly with various guest speakers to enlighten our customers as well as staff.  In addition to the workshops, they have one major event each year: Spring “Antiques in the Garden” show with approximately 40 vendors with antiques, collectibles, and crafts.
