Located above the Revolutionary War Hospital Ruins at Historic Yellow Springs in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania is the 18c Medicinal Garden created and maintained by the Philadelphia Unit since 1987 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the U. S. Constitution. The plantings in the beds reflect a selection of the herbs and plants from the Materia Medica - today it would be called Pharmacy - taught at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in the late 1700s.

A brochure is available to visitors to the garden listing the plants and their uses during the Revolutionary War.

From September 2014 through March 2015 the Unit’s Botany and Horticulture study group researched all the plants.

Historic Yellow Springs and the garden are featured in the annual Chester County Planning Commission’s “Town Tours and Village Walks" that take place throughout the summer. The tour at Historic Yellow Springs usually takes place in August. Unit members are present in the garden at this time.
