"Developed and released by the U.S. National Arboretum's Floral and Nursery Plant Research Unit in 2000, this chile pepper cultivar is both ornamental and tasty. Capsicum
annuum
'Tangerine Dream' is a controlled pollination hybrid of a sweet hybrid bell pepper 'Cadice' and squash type pepper 'Tennessee Cheese.' From many generations of crosses, 'Tangerine Dream' was selected for its prostrate growth habit, dark green foliage, and bright tangerine-colored, conical upright fruit. It also has a sweet, rich pepper taste.

'Tangerine Dream' grows the same as other chile pepper cultivars. It needs full sun and can tolerate dry soils. It makes a wonderful display in a bedded out situation, and its prostrate growth habit makes it particularly good for container combinations."  – James Adams, Curator of the National Herb Garden, Promising Plants Presentation, 2005
